Post Op: Day 1

I woke up every four hours during the night to give him pain medication. Most of the time, he was awake in pain. Did well drinking fluids and even wanted some breakfast...sliced bananas and scrambled eggs..He was pretty excited to eat in the den in front of the TV with Dad's table. He was able to eat a few bites but quickly realized that nothing tasted right!
Will quickly formed a cycle...received pain meds, hyper from pain meds, crashed for nap, woke up in pain and then started all over with pain meds again. He sleeps with his mouth open so even after a short nap, he wakes up in pain from his throat being dry. So most of the day consisted of short naps...
The entire day was spent sleeping and watching movies. The boys spend so much time outside that this is really hard for Will to just lay around inside. I found him watching the other kids out the window...so we laid in the grass on a blanket for awhile!

By the end of the day, it was difficult to get him to take his pain medicine because of the flavor. So we mixed it with juice or gatorade to make it taste better. And then, it was time for bed...
