Trailblazer Update!
Since July 19, we have been out of our Trailblazer and into a little Kia (which we both hate)! Yesterday, we got the call that the Trailblazer was finally ready...after almost 6 long weeks...so we rushed to the dealership in Greenville! David and I were both disappointed with the work on our car. Granted, the car will never be the same but I want it to look like it did before the Dodge Ram hit us. You can tell the work was from a dealership and not from the factory. The worst part is that we believe someone drove the car while it sat in a salvage lot for a week in Columbia! We saw the car the day it was towed to Greenville and were appalled that someone had been using our car (which of course, we can not prove). Both front seats were covered with red mud, dried oil and wet grease. Not only was it on the leather seats but also the front doors and carpet for both the driver and passenger sides! The insurance company agreed to detail the car before calling to tell us it was ready for pickup. Yesterday, there was still dried mud and grease all over both leather seats. It is the first thing you notice getting in the car -- it looks horrible! We are supposed to go back next Thursday to re-evaluate our car. If it is not looking new, I am insisting on new leather seats!

27 WEEKS!

WOW! We are now 27 weeks! Almost in the third and final trimester! This week, our baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with "his" legs extended. He's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing his eyes, and perhaps even sucking his fingers. With more brain tissue developing, our baby's brain is very active now. While his lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if he were to be born now (which Mom & Dad are not ready)! I often feel tiny rhythmic movements that are believed to be a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother him! I can not wait to meet him in about three more months!

Meet The Teacher Night
Tonight was Meet the Teacher night at Zachary's Preschool at Trinity Baptist Church. His teachers are Miss Laurie and Miss Ashley. They have such a wonderful agenda for the year and teach the children using a Faith Based Wee Learn Curriculum. It teaches children to develop their emerging skills while discovering and experiencing God's love. They have daily Bible Lessons and go to chapel once a week. They have field trips planned including the Apple Orchard, Tree Farm and Fire Department! I think this is a great chance to Zachary to grow and learn!

Preschool Intervention Program
Today during therapy, we were informed that our Early Interventionist believes that Zachary would qualify for the Oconee County Preschool Intervention Program (PIP) for the 2009-2010 School year (next year). We are keeping our minds open as to what opportunities Zachary will have but this sounds like it may be a possibility for next year. PIP is a program for 3-5 yr olds who are involved in Baby Net for a developmental delay (speech delay for Zachary). The children are enrolled into the public school district at three years old just like Kindergarten kids but they are in a special program. They go to school five days a week for half the day. Of course, Zachary has to qualify and I still have a lot of questions (ratio, etc). But it sounds like it could be a good choice if Zachary qualifies. I know it is a year away, but our EI said we have to apply by October~...we will keep you posted!

Unexpected Hair Cut

For several of Zachary's haircuts, I have cut it at home at the Philpott Hair Salon for free. Well this morning, Zachary must have thought that I did not do a very good job. He found a pair of scissors and David found him in the kitchen cutting his own hair! Luckily, I do not think you can tell...I thought only girls tried to cut their hair!

26 WEEKS!

Well, today we are 26 weeks closer to delivering "Baby Philpott #2." We only have 14weeks to go and are almost safely in our third trimester! This little one is a very active little boy! We can not wait to meet him! Hopefully, the next three months will be as smooth and easy as they were with Zachary! Above is a picture of what the baby should be looking like now!

Ouch! It Stung Me!

Today, Zachary had his first run-in with the bees in our yard. He was swinging on the swing on our front porch, minding his own business, when the bees attacked. I heard him scream as he fell to the porch floor and all I saw was several bees swarming around him. I swooped his screaming body away and applied cold packs to the three (yes, three) places where he was stung (and gave him a "nursing" dose of Benadryl)!
After calming him down, David and I went to see if we could find a nest or something. Sure enough, there was a nest with 6-8 bees attached to the underside of the porch swing Zachary was swinging on. Big, strong "Daddy" killed all the bees! After Zachary's nap, I asked him if he wanted to go back outside and he immediately said "no, bees!" He has still not forgotten about the bee stings but is back to enjoying the outdoors. And he went to bed tonight with three bandaids on his bee stings!
The ironic thing is that lately we have been singing songs together before bed that require us to do different hand gestures ~ Zachary's favorite song has been "Bringing Home a Baby Bumble Bee...Ouch, It Stung Me!" Tonight, he looked at me like I was crazy!

Welcome Baby Madeline!

Micheal and Christine welcomed Baby Madeline Elizabeth Philpott into the world today at Greenville Memorial Hospital...6 lbs and 3 ozs. She is healthy and beautiful with a head of dark hair. David, Zachary and I went to the hospital to visit Baby Madeline this evening. Zachary did well until he saw Aunt Christine in the hospital bed...he had crocodile tears in his eyes and got really quiet. I think he thought something was wrong with her and she was sick. And, I do not think he knew how to react to the little baby!

Potty Training Update
Zachary is on this way to being potty trained. He is at the point were he knows he is going pee-pee and he wakes up dry. When we go to the store, he picks out which pull-ups he wants (Cars, Nemo, Diego, etc). Lately, all he wants is "Dora the Explorer". Dora the Explorer is for boys or girls but the pull-ups with Dora only come in pink. So, Zachary is wearing pink pull-ups. Whatever works is just fine with me...but Dad thinks it is a little weird! Anyway, Zachary is pee-peeing in the potty three to four times a day when we are at home (forget it if were are away from home). I am hoping he will be completely potty trained by November. Once he starts preschool in September, I think he will get even better. The teachers at his school have told us they will work with him on potty training as well as speech development! We are so excited!
