Life Cycle of a Fish

Today, we went to the Walhalla State Fish Hatchery to learn about the life cycle of a fish.  WSFH raises brown, brook and rainbow trout for stocking the public waters of South Carolina. Most of the trout are cultured to a catchable size of 9-12" before they are released. Approximately 500,000 trout are produced and stocked annually by the WSFH. Very large trout (5-15 pounds) are also kept at the Hatchery on display for the public viewing enjoyment.  The boys had a great time and don't even realize how much they learned today!
After looking at the different stages of the fish life cycle...from babies to adults...the boys were able to feed the big fish.  And boy did those fish jump and splatter when they got fed.
After studying the fish, we the boys went on their first official hike...
And we stopped to play in the water and skip rocks!
